The book of Job gives us a glimpse behind the veil that separates earthly life from the heavenly.

Job 1:1 (ESV) 1There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.

Job 1:6 – 12 (ESV)

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

7 The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”

8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”

9 Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason?

10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

11 But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”

12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

EXPOSITION:

Job 1:6 – 12 (ESV)

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God (Angels- Job 38:7) came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. (Satan = Heb. “accuser” – Rev. 12:9-10)

Revelation 12:9 – 10 (KJV) 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

(See Satan’s back story: Ezek. 28:11-19; Ps. 72:9; Isa. 14:13-14;49:23; Micah 7:17).

SATAN:

1. He was created. On the day that you were created—Ezek. 28:13

2. He has been cut down by God—-Isaiah 14:12 12 “How you have fallen from heaven… You have been cut down to the earth” (He can not read our minds and know our thoughts like God. –Ps. 139:4)

3. He is NOT equal to God and never has been—- Ezek. 28:19 “And you will cease to be forever”…
