Jehoiada means "God knows," and Benaiah means "God builds." 2 Samuel 23:20 - 23

God Knows:

Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NASB) 5 Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.

Psalms 139:13 - 17 (NASB)

For You formed my inward parts;

You wove me in my mother’s womb.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Wonderful are Your works,

And my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;

And in Your book were all written

The days that were ordained for me,

When as yet there was not one of them.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!

How vast is the sum of them!

Jeremiah 1:5 (NASB) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

God Builds:

Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) …. Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Ecclesiastes 9:11a (KJV) …. the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; …(also see Amos 2:14 - 16)

2 Corinthians 12:9 - 10 (NASB)

9And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

10Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Chronicles 16:9a (NASB) 9 “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His…….

John 16:33 (KJV) 33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Col. 1:27….. Christ in you, the hope of glory.

  • It is not that God is not doing anything, but most of the time, you just don’t see it.
  • Proverbs 16:18 has this to say about pride: “Pride goes before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.”

“Follow me, for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand” (Judges 3:28).On that day, about ten thousand men of Moab fell. “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?” Deuteronomy 32:30
