Sermon Handout
- John 2:23-25
 - Luke 16:30-31
 - Matthew 7:15-23
 - Psalms 51:16-17

Words are not a substitute for obedience to God’s Word., and neither are religious works. Preaching, casting out demons, and performing miracles can be divinely inspired, but they give no assurance of true salvation.
The following are NOT always PROOF that you’ve been saved:
SUPERNATURAL
Luke 16:30-31 (NLT)
30 “The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’
31 “But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t listen even if someone rises from the dead.”
SACRIFICE
Psalms 51:16-17 (NLT)
16 You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
SIGNS (and wonders)
John 2:23-25 (NLT)
23 Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him. 24 But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew human nature. 25 No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.
SENIORITY
1 John 2:19 (NLT)
19These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise, they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
SPIRITUALITY
Luke 18:21-22 (NLT)
21 The man replied, “I’ve carefully obeyed all these commandments since I was young.”
22 When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
SINCERITY
Luke 18:11 – 12 (NLT)
11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else. For I don’t cheat, I don’t sin, and I don’t commit adultery. I’m certainly not like that tax
collector! 12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.
How to have true salvation according to the Word:
Romans 10:9-10 states:
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
“For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
Acts: 2:38 states:
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
