Matthew 7:17 - 23 (NASB)

17“So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

18“A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

19“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into th e fire.

20“So then, you will know them by their fruits.

21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

-------------“Everybody talkin’ ‘bout heav’n ain’t goin’ there.”-------------

Proverbs 30:12 (KJV)

12There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Romans 10:2 - 3 (KJV)

2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

  • There are, no doubt, millions of people who feel religious, millions of people who associate with Christianity, millions of people who would say to Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” and have no hope of entering heaven. Millions of people who would proclaim they know Jesus who will spend eternity in hell, suffering everlasting punishment, according to scripture. (Matt. 7:23)

John 2:23 - 25 (NASB)

23Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing.

24But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men,

25and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.
