Trust In Him

Monday Morning Moment / Key Takewaway:
Philippians 4:13 reminds us, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." We can't do it on our own, but through Christ, we can. That’s why we must trust Him and give our lives to Him, continuing to trust in Him.

Amen. I’m gonna trust in the Lord. Thank God for that song, even though it’s old, it’s a good song, you know. Thank God for each and every one that is here. I thank God for Elder Rod’s prayer earlier because we must pray one for another. We can’t just think about ourselves; we have to think about each other. We have to defend one another. We have to hold up one another.

Today, if I would pick a subject, it would be trust in Him. Trust in Him. First of all, let’s look at a very familiar passage, Proverbs the third chapter, verses five and six. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

We can always trust in God when everything’s going well, when we have no issues, no problems. But can we trust in God when things aren’t going well? Can we trust in God when we’re sick? Can we trust in God when we’re having financial issues? Can we trust in God when things aren’t going our way? When it doesn’t seem like there’s any place to turn, we can always turn to God. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Let’s turn to Jeremiah 9:23-24. This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom, or the strong boast of their strength, or the rich boast of their riches. But let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord. Sometimes, we think, “I have this or that, so I don’t need God or people.” But we always need God. What can we do by ourselves? I can’t make myself breathe, wake up, or give myself oxygen. Only God can do that.

Each day we should be thankful. Thank God for who He is. Thank God because if it wasn’t for the Lord on our side, where would we be? If it wasn’t for the Lord on our side, would we be here today? It’s by the grace of God that we’re not in those situations, and even when bad things happen, we have God on our side.

As Sister Jamie shared earlier, we prayed for her friend who had issues and needed surgery. The surgery went well, and she’s on the road to recovery—only because of the grace of God. When we pray, let’s not just pray for ourselves. Let’s pray for one another. That should be a continual practice in our lives, a mindset to pray one for another.

Lord, place me in your hands. It’s hard because it means giving things up, following His will, and committing to pray for others. We need to place ourselves in His hands. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Our thoughts will align with what God wants us to be and do. Matthew 6:25 tells us to take no thought for our lives or what we will eat or drink. These are things we have no control over, so we must put them in the Lord’s hands.

In Philippians 4:6-7, it says, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” It’s easier to trust in God when we let Him control us, when we give ourselves to Him, and when we stop trying to do everything ourselves.

Finally, brethren, Philippians 4:8 reminds us to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Often, we are so busy with life that we forget to think on the goodness of Jesus and all He has done for us. But if we put ourselves in His hands, He will reward us. He will take care of us.

Verse 9 tells us, “Those things which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Paul speaks of learning to be content in whatever state he is in, whether he has much or little. When we’re hungry or in need, God knows, and He knows how to fill us and supply our needs.

Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” We can’t do it on our own, but through Christ, we can. That’s why we must trust Him and give our lives to Him, continuing to trust in Him.

Amen.
