Who saves us?
Romans 5:6;8;9 (NLT)
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
How are we saved?
Romans 10:9-10;13 (NLT)
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
What is the proof of our salvation?
1 John 2:19 – 20 (NLT)
19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
20 But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit,£ and all of you know the truth.
John 8:31 – 32 (NLT)
31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
When were we saved?
Past: Ephesians 2:8 – 9 (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We have been saved from the penalty of sin. We have been justified.
Present: 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NASB)
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
We are being saved from the power of sin. We are being sanctified.
Future: Matthew 24:13 (NASB)
13 “But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
We will be saved from the presence of sin. We will be glorified.
Pre-past: Ephesians 1:4 – 5 (NASB) (election)
4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love
5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
What are we saved from?
1 Thessalonians 5:9 (NASB)
9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Romans 5:9 (NASB)
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
We are saved from both the power and penalty of sin.
