How to get rich quick?
The true story is told of a rich, young ruler who basically had everything. Money, power, good looks and youth. He was on top of the world. But, he did not have Jesus!
He had too much pride to acknowledge that he was sinful by nature, that his entire life fell short of God’s holiness and was an offense to Him. His desire for eternal life was centered entirely in his own selfishness and arrogance. (Read the entire story in Matthew 19)
The young man had no hatred for his sins. He saw no need to seek God’s forgiveness. Therefore, he wasn’t looking for what God needed to do for him but, for what he could do for God. Like most Jews of his day and most people today, he believed his destiny was in his own hands. Therefore, his so-called good deeds was nothing more than shameless self-righteousness. The only thing he really wanted from Jesus was a quick and easy way to get to heaven. He wanted another “get rich quick scheme”, another simple way to success, and another way to try to beat the system. What he was not looking for was true contrition. He was not looking for salvation by grace through faith. But, that is exactly what he needed.
Salvation, however, is for people who are frustrated with their own efforts. Those who realize that, in and of themselves they are hopelessly sinful and incapable of improving. Salvation is for those who are sick and tired of sinning, and sick and tired of their present lifestyle. Those who are ready and willing to confess their sin and turn from their sin, throwing themselves on God’s mercy. It is for those who recognize they have absolutely nothing good to offer God. You must come to the end of yourself!
Are you tired of struggling? Are you looking for real peace? Real life? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Jesus Christ is ready, willing and able to change your life right now and bless you beyond your wildest dream. Please accept Him!
