Sermon on the Mount (#2)

Matt. 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Words are not a substitute for obedience to God’s Word., and neither are religious works.

Words are not a substitute for obedience, and neither are religious works.
True salvation comes through recognizing our need for God's mercy and grace, not through self-righteousness or outward displays of piety.
By focusing on self-improvement and extending grace to others, we can live in accordance with Christ's teachings and experience the fullness of God's blessings.
Choose humility, repentance, and seeking God over trying to control our circumstances.
Actively choose de-escalation and kindness over retaliation when confronted with challenges. By responding with grace, we can cultivate peace and become a reflection of God's love in the world.
Our relationship with God is measured more by our human relationships than by religious rituals.
One cannot RIGHTLY claim to love God without also loving and treating others well.
Matthew 5:15-16 (NLT) 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
